Silver Stars Gymnastics has been the home of girls gymnastics in Silver Spring for over 32 years. Founded in 1993 by Cherie Hope, the club was built on a simple belief: every child deserves to experience the joy of gymnastics, regardless of age or ability.

Our gymnastics for girls program focuses on building physical strength, flexibility, coordination, and confidence across all apparatus. Every class is led by certified coaches who keep things fun, encouraging, and safe. With small class ratios (up to 7 gymnasts per coach for preschool, up to 9 for school-age), your daughter gets the individual attention she needs to grow at her own pace.

What Girls' Gymnastics Classes Do We Offer

Silver Stars provides a clear, structured pathway for every gymnastics girl, from her very first tumble to competitive-level training. Classes are organized by age and developmental stage so your child always feels challenged and supported.


Enrollment is monthly and ongoing - start any time, no need to wait for a new session cycle. Multi-class discounts available.

Preschool Gymnastics

Ages 6 Months to 5 Years
These classes introduce your little one to movement, balance, and coordination using age-appropriate equipment. Baby Stars (6 to 18 months) and Little Stars (18 months to 3 years) are parent-child classes where you participate alongside your daughter. Twinkling Stars (3 to 4 years) and Shining Stars (4 to 5 years) are independent classes where she learns with her peers. Each class meets once per week for 45 minutes.

Artistic Gymnastics

Ages 5 to 17 Years
Girls gymnastics classes at the school-age level build skills across vault, bars, beam, and floor. Comets (5 to 6 years) is a 60-minute beginner class. Meteors (7 to 10 years) is a 45-minute beginner class. Asteroids (11 to 14 years) offers 75 minutes of beginner-to-intermediate training. These classes also teach goal-setting, sportsmanship, and discipline.

Invitational and Competitive Teams

For girls ready to train with greater intensity, the Invitational Program includes Shooting Stars (5 to 6 years) and Galaxy Teams Silver, Bronze, and Gold (7 to 15 years), meeting twice per week. Silver Stars also runs a full girls' competitive gymnastics program where athletes compete at regional and national levels. Silver Stars alumni have competed and won at all levels, making it one of the most respected programs in the area.

More Than Just Girls Gymnastics Classes

Ages 7 - 15 Years
Silver Stars offers a full calendar of events and programs beyond weekly classes. Your daughter can explore Ninja Stars I (ages 5 to 7) and Ninja Stars II (ages 8 to 10) for obstacle-course style training, or try TNT (Tumbling and Trampoline) classes for focused tumbling and trampoline work.

Additional programs

Additional programs include gymnastics camps for ages 4 and up during summer and school breaks, Open Gym drop-in play for kids 8 and under (parents must stay and supervise), Kids' Night Out on Saturday evenings, and action-packed birthday parties on weekends. Silver Stars also hosts a free monthly Storytime + Open Gym event for babies.

Absolutely. Silver Stars offers a clear pathway from recreational classes to the Invitational Program and then to the Competitive Girls Team. Coaches evaluate each athlete's readiness, and families can submit an inquiry form to learn more about the competitive track.

Silver Stars keeps class sizes small. Preschool classes have up to 7 gymnasts per coach, and school-age classes have up to 9 gymnasts per coach. This allows coaches to give every child individual attention and feedback.

Enrollment is monthly and ongoing. You can join at any time during the year without waiting for a new round to begin. Recreational classes meet once per week, and invitational classes meet twice per week.

Yes. The first trial class is completely free for new families. You can schedule it at any time that works for your family. There is no obligation to enroll after the trial.

Girls can start as young as 6 months in the Baby Stars parent-child class. Silver Stars offers classes for every age group from infants through 17 years, with each level designed to match your child's developmental stage.
