About Our Kids Gymnastics Program

Silver Stars Gymnastics is a children's gymnastics and fitness club at 2701 Pittman Dr, Silver Spring, MD 20910, just minutes from the DC border area along East West Hwy. Founded in 1993 by Cherie Hope, Silver Stars was built on a simple belief: every child deserves to experience the joy of gymnastics, regardless of age, ability, or athletic background.

Silver Stars structures its gymnastics classes for kids near Washington DC across four program tracks, each designed for specific age groups and developmental stages.

Preschool GymnasticsPreschool Gymnastics

Ages 6 Months to 5 Years
The youngest learners start here. Baby Stars (6 to 18 months) and Little Stars (18 months to 3 years) are parent-child classes where you participate alongside your child. Twinkling Stars (3 to 4 years) and Shining Stars (4 to 5 years) are independent classes where children build motor skills, social confidence, and body awareness using age-appropriate equipment.

Artistic Gymnastics

Ages 5 to 17 Years
Comets (5 to 6), Meteors (7 to 10), and Asteroids (11 to 14) progress through beginner to intermediate skills on vault, bars, beam, and floor. These classes build strength, flexibility, and coordination that transfer to other sports while teaching discipline, goal-setting, and sportsmanship.

Tumbling and Trampoline / TNT

Ages 3 to 17 Years
TNT classes focus on floor tumbling and trampoline technique. Grouped by age, they build coordination, core strength, endurance, and agility for children who love to flip, bounce, and move.

Ninja and Fitness

Ages 5 to 10 Years
Ninja Stars I (ages 5 to 7) and Ninja Stars II (ages 8 to 10) blend gymnastics, martial arts, and obstacle course training. Fun Fitness (ages 7 to 10) rounds out this track with a focus on overall physical conditioning.
All recreational classes meet once per week. For athletes ready for more, the Invitational Program and Competitive Girls Team offer advanced training at 2 classes per week and beyond

Beyond Weekly Classes

Silver Stars offers more than kids' gymnastics in Maryland through weekly classes. The full calendar includes programs and events designed to keep children active year-round.
Ages 4+

Camps

Half-day and full-day gymnastics camps run during school breaks and all the way through the last week of August. Summer camp weeks are booked by the full week. School-year camp days can be booked by the day. Camps include gymnastics training on all apparatus, creative crafts, games, and ninja challenges.
Ages 8 and Under

Open Gym

A weekday drop-in free play option where kids explore trampolines, play mats, jump ropes, rope swings, and more. Parents are required to stay and supervise during Open Gym. Spots must be reserved in advance. Open Gym is not available during the summer months.

Kids' Night Out

A supervised evening of open gym play, games, movies, and fun. Held on Saturdays at 6:30 PM during the school year and on Fridays from 6:00 to 9:00 PM during summer. Pizza is available as a paid add-on.
Saturdays and Sundays

Birthday Parties

Stress-free, fully managed celebrations with 60 minutes of gym play and 30 minutes in the party zone. Silver Stars provides paper products, tablecloths, utensils, serving tools, candles, and color-changing novelty goodie cups. Pizza is available at an additional cost. Outside food is not permitted, though parents are welcome to bring their own cake, decorations, and party supplies.

Storytime + Open Gym

A free monthly event for babies that pairs a story time activity with an Open Gym play session.

Absolutely. Silver Stars offers a clear pathway from recreational classes to the Invitational Program and then to the Competitive Girls Team. Coaches evaluate each athlete's readiness, and families can submit an inquiry form to learn more about the competitive track.

Silver Stars keeps class sizes small. Preschool classes have up to 7 gymnasts per coach, and school-age classes have up to 9 gymnasts per coach. This allows coaches to give every child individual attention and feedback.

Enrollment is monthly and ongoing. You can join at any time during the year without waiting for a new round to begin. Recreational classes meet once per week, and invitational classes meet twice per week.

Yes. The first trial class is completely free for new families. You can schedule it at any time that works for your family. There is no obligation to enroll after the trial.

Girls can start as young as 6 months in the Baby Stars parent-child class. Silver Stars offers classes for every age group from infants through 17 years, with each level designed to match your child's developmental stage.
